Understand exactly what a finding means
Product margin is calculated as (current price − product cost) ÷ current price. The calculation excludes tax, shipping, payment fees, coupons, refunds and overhead. It is a product-level screening signal, not a full order-profit calculation.
The scanner never changes prices and detects risks when you run it. The optional checkout safeguard blocks items below their recorded product cost when enabled; it starts off and does not account for discounts or order expenses. Cost-based findings need native WooCommerce Cost of Goods enabled and cost entered for each item.
Requires WordPress 6.5+, WooCommerce 10.3+ and PHP 7.4+. Baselines are stored in product metadata; scan results stay in the current browser tab.

Frequently asked questions
Does the plugin change product prices?
No. It reports potential issues and opens the product editor for a person to review. You can also enable a safeguard that prevents items priced below recorded cost from being added to cart or checked out.
When is the checkout safeguard active?
It is off when installed. After you verify your Cost of Goods entries, enable it in WooCommerce → Price & Margin Guard and save. It checks current product price against positive recorded cost. It cannot account for coupons, fees, shipping or other sources of loss.
Do I have to enter costs again?
No. It reads WooCommerce’s native Cost of Goods field. If the feature is disabled or an item’s cost is empty or zero, the report shows that cost is unavailable and cannot calculate a meaningful margin for that item.
Is a price baseline created automatically?
No. Click “Capture new price baseline” when your catalog prices are correct. Capturing another baseline intentionally replaces the previous reference prices.
Will this calculate net profit after shipping and fees?
No. It checks product price against product cost. Use a full order-profit system for shipping, tax, fees and other expenses.
