Find Catalog Differences Before Handoff

An import can finish while important values still differ between
exports. The Migration Comparison Tool helps you check product
presence, prices and stock without reviewing every row manually.

Identify missing products and newly added items

Find identifiers that appear only in your old export or only in the
new one. Investigate missing records, confirm intentional additions
and check whether the destination contains the products or variants
you expected.

Findings reflect the files you select. A missing item may result
from an export filter or an intentional removal, so review the
context before making corrections.

Compare prices with an adjustable tolerance

Use the Migration Comparison Tool to review old and new prices for
matched records. Set an optional absolute price tolerance when small
rounding differences are acceptable.

For example, a tolerance of 0.01 ignores a difference of up to one
cent when prices are expressed in dollars. Both price columns must
use the same currency and tax basis; currency conversion and tax
adjustments are not included.

Check stock quantities

Highlight differences in mapped stock values. Stock is compared
exactly, while blank or invalid values are flagged for review
instead of being treated as zero.

Use exports taken at comparable times. Sales, returns and stock
adjustments between exports can create legitimate differences
unrelated to a migration.

Match records using your own identifiers

Select SKU or another stable identifier shared by both files.
Where necessary, choose a second matching column on both sides,
such as SKU and location, to distinguish separate records.

• Leading zeros in identifiers are preserved.
• Spaces at the beginning and end of keys are trimmed.
• Matching is case-sensitive unless you choose to ignore letter case.
• Blank keys and duplicate-key groups are flagged for review.
• Ambiguous duplicate records are not automatically paired or summed.

Filter findings and export comparison reports

The Migration Comparison Tool lets you search by match key or issue,
filter by result status and review findings in a paginated table.
Export all results or every row matching the current filter,
including filtered rows on other pages.

CSV reports include identifiers, compared fields, old and new
values, source line references, filenames, comparison time and
mapping settings. Use these details to investigate findings or
document a client handoff.

1. Download and extract the ZIP.
   Keep the extracted files and assets folder together.
2. Open the application.
   Open index.html in your desktop or laptop browser.
   No server setup or store credentials are required.
3. Select your exports.
   Choose the old source file and the new destination file.
4. Review the column mapping.
   Choose a stable match key in each file and map price, stock or both.
   Always check the suggested mappings.
5. Choose your settings.
   Select the decimal format, optional price tolerance and key
   case preference.
6. Compare and investigate.
   Review missing items, changed values and records needing
   manual attention.
7. Export your findings.
   Download a full or filtered CSV report and make any necessary
   corrections separately in your store.

Understand Your Comparison Results

The Migration Comparison Tool separates findings into five statuses
so you can distinguish confirmed differences from records that
need further review.

Example:
SKU A-001 costs 29 in the old file and 32 in the new file.
With price tolerance set to zero, its price is marked as changed.
Another SKU with no matching record in the new file is marked
as missing.

One record can produce multiple report rows. Review counts represent
issues; missing, added, changed and unchanged counts represent keys.
A record can have both a changed value and a review issue.
“Unchanged” applies only to mapped numeric fields, not every
product detail.

File Requirements and Compatibility

• Format:
  UTF-8 CSV with comma, semicolon or tab separators.
• File limits:
  up to 20 MB and 100,000 data rows per file.
• Headers:
  unique, non-empty column names and consistent row lengths.
• Matching:
  a stable identifier shared by both exports.
• Comparison fields:
  price, stock or both.
• Numbers:
  decimal-point or decimal-comma values without currency symbols
  or thousands separators.
• Device:
  a desktop or laptop browser capable of opening local HTML files.

The Migration Comparison Tool can work with Shopify, WooCommerce
and other exports containing suitable columns. Platform-specific
schemas are not automatically validated.

Save Excel workbooks as CSV UTF-8 before selecting them.
Large files require more browser memory and may take longer
to process.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Migration Comparison Tool a WordPress plugin?

No. It is standalone software. Extract the ZIP and open
index.html. Do not install the package through
WordPress Plugins.

Does it migrate, import or fix products?

No. It compares exports and produces reports. You decide which
findings need action and make changes separately.

Can it compare product variants?

Yes, when each variant has a suitable unique match key, such as
a variant SKU. A shared parent identifier can create duplicate-key
warnings. Image-only rows without an SKU may also require review.

What if SKUs change during a migration?

Choose another stable identifier shared by both files. Otherwise,
the old SKU appears as missing and the replacement SKU appears
as added.

Does it compare images, descriptions and categories?

No. This version compares identifier presence and mapped price
and stock values. It does not validate images, descriptions,
categories or other unmapped fields.

Can it combine stock from multiple locations?

No automatic aggregation is included. If both files contain
location information, use SKU and location as a composite key
to compare individual location records.

Will it work without internet access?

Yes. Once downloaded and extracted, the application processes
local files offline. No API key or external scanning service
is required.

Can I print or share the report?

Export a complete or filtered CSV report for review or sharing.
Printing includes only the current page of filtered results,
up to 100 rows. Use CSV for the full comparison.
